  • The most powerful minority ever

For a fleeting moment, it looked like a sliver of sense was about to insert itself into the immigration mania in the USA. A proclamation announced that farm and hotel workers would not be targeted for deportation. Both these sectors are being hit hard by the ICE raids and they are desperate at this time of the year.

I’m guessing Brooke Rollins, the SoS for Agriculture, managed to get the president’s ear for long enough to get relief of some kind in the matter. The affected employers are typically Republican and they don’t want to antagonise their own voters too much.

With all the conflicting interests in the White House, this could not last long. A long missive on Truth Social soon appeared, ordering the entire federal government, including the Pentagon, to begin mass deportations in cities. Although from the president’s account, this was almost certainly written by Stephen Miller. He tried to copy his master’s rambling incoherence, but it’s difficult to do. And I’ve tried.

There’s no secret to this anymore. They are explicitly targeting “Democrat Power Centers”. That is, cities controlled by Democrats. All with black mayors, coincidentally. This policy has already caused such a reaction that the regime finds it necessary to call in the military. So now they escalate the situation further. It is tantamount to declaring civil war.

Their justification for this? Trans. Nothing these people say makes any sense at all anymore.

  • Life hacks

I put some shelves up over the weekend. Years ago, I discovered the best way to do this is to not bother measuring anything. Just put a couple of marks on a spirit level and drill holes according to those. Everything is always the same distance apart, as well as level. There has to be limits to how far this method goes, but it is so easy, there’s nothing to go wrong.

Canadians have developed a similarly idiot-proof way to boycott USA goods in shops. One conscientious person checks a product for the country of origin. If it is the USA, they put it back on the shelf, but upside down. Everybody who comes along afterwards can see the upside down product and not buy it. They all know the code.

It is all getting a good response across the country. The backsliding and stupidity south of the border is bad enough, but somehow expected. The threats of annexation are worse. All of this is pushing Canadians together. A massive 85% of the population now describes itself as being “proud” to be Canadian. That’s even higher in Quebec, of all places.

This wave of nationalism is notably different from that south of the border. Maga is driven by imagined resentments and a sense of exceptionalism. Canadians are under no illusions about their own power, but want to engage with like-minded others, in order to assert their independence.

Meanwhile, the USA loses power and influence.

  • Not a treaty organisation

International women’s day today, great, I did the washing. Nice and sunny, gets it dried lovely.

I find myself thinking what a good thing it is that I don’t have to rely on the USA for sunlight and fresh air. It’s a different matter with defence.

The Leader of the Free World announced that he will not defend his allies if they are attacked by an enemy.

To me, this rather goes against the spirit of an alliance. More to the point, it goes directly against what is written in the treaty, but then when did a fraudster ever respect a contract?

Not that any of this comes as a shock anymore. What is their strategy? Why are they deliberately driving us away?

In the next few years we will be saying, yankees go home, and that’s assuming they don’t slink away in shame by themselves first. With that the USA loses the ability to threaten Eastern Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Either they know this and don’t care, or they don’t know.

At the same time they have prodded the EU into massive rearmament. At the end of this the EU, as an independent actor, will do as it pleases in the world and will never ask USAian permission first. This will happen. Do they realise?

They are throwing away their power and I don’t understand why.
